Proactive security efforts disrupt organized cargo theft crews
Back-to-back recoveries highlight brand targeting risk
Over one weekend, Overhaul successfully recovered two separate shipments of the same electronics brand in Southern California, totaling over $533,000 in value. The first theft was interrupted in Fontana, CA, as Overhaul’s GSOC detected a compromised shipment and coordinated with the Fontana Police Department to stop suspects while they were actively transloading cargo. The second theft was uncovered after a trailer arrived short at delivery; Overhaul’s investigation located the missing cargo in a new trailer at a different yard. With the California Highway Patrol Cargo Theft Interdiction Program’s assistance, the product was recovered and returned to origin. While both shipments were from the same brand, current evidence suggests the incidents are not connected, underscoring the prevalence of product and brand targeting by different theft crews.
