On August 31st at approximately 8AM local time, a tractor and trailer filled with consumer electronics was stolen from a truck stop in De Motte, IN.
The shipment had staged overnight at the truck stop, which was approximately 250 miles from origin in Louisville, KY, and the entire rig was stolen when the driver left it unattended in the morning. The tractor and trailer were taken approximately 30 miles south to Remington, IN where it was parked
at a truck stop, repowered with a different tractor, and the trailer license plate was replaced and its markings were covered by paint and new number decals applied before heading south again, all within 25 minutes.
The driver noticed his rig missing before the cargo arrived in Remington and notified the Jasper County Sherriff and the Overhaul GSOC of the theft. The Overhaul Response team was activated and engaged the Indiana State Police as well as the Remington and Lebanon Police Departments. As the shipment headed south, Indiana SP was in pursuit, being provided up-to-the-minute locations via Overhaul’s platform, and Lebanon PD set up along the highway to intercept.
