Overhaul helps logistics company recover stolen trailers & improve security management
Here's how Overhaul empowered a logistics company to move beyond visibility.
In 2019, Overhaul began working with a logistics company based in Fort Worth. At the time, the customer was facing a crisis as they had lost around 20 trailers within just six months. They were struggling with targeted theft of the electronics commodity. Prior to working with Overhaul, they were using a tool primarily for visibility rather than in transit risk detection.
Overhaul was able to deploy their devices and tablets immediately, and one of the first incidents they responded to was during Thanksgiving. A load departed and stopped in a large yard, but thanks to the accuracy of the Overhaul IOT devices, police were able to pinpoint exactly where the trailer via our LE connect application showing real-time location along with evidentiary pictures. The trailer was recovered in full, and three weeks later, when the thieves tried to steal another trailer, law enforcement were able to track and catch the criminals as they were unloading the trailer.
As a result of using the Overhaul risk management platform, the customer was able to make an immediate impact to theft and noted that Overhaul was providing a significant contribution to their work-life balance. Prior to working with Overhaul, the customer did not have a digital security program in place. Overhaul has worked with the customer constantly to establish and support processes at both inbound and outbound security gates.
Many of their shipments out of SoCal are picked up by local drivers and dropped off yards for long haul drivers to pick up exposing these loads to double loading of cargo and or theft. However, the intelligence of the Overhaul platform detects the risk events such as light, seal break, or deviation alerts early allows for intervention and if necessary to engage law enforcement and return shipments to origin to be secured and verified.
In short, thanks to Overhaul’s surveillance and responses, the customer has been able to prevent or save loss of cargo. Overall, Overhaul has been instrumental in helping them improve their security management processes and prevent cargo loss through theft or other issues while in transit.
